This was so freaking good. Why couldn’t Rucka stay on the book for 10 years?
The “problem” with the first book is that nothing really lived up to Hiketeia. Don’t get me wrong, the other stories were still incredible, 5-star stories in their own right, but Hiketeia is hard to beat. In this collection, I feel like the quality is a bit more consistent. All of the stories follow a more singular overarching plot, and I loved the focus on mythology. Having it be a big part of this entire collection really worked in its favor, I think, whereas the first collection sort of jumped from “real life” to myth a lot.
