BETA was not at all what I expected. I wouldn't call this a horror book, this is, at best, a scifi thriller. I loved the premise and dual POVs did intrigue me at the beginning but the more I read, the more bored I got, especially with Dylans POV which was mostly drama. I also really didn't enjoy our main characters personality - he was stupid and he was a bit of an asshole. But I digress.

This book was just way too long and the exciting parts happened after about 65% mark which is very late. I do understnad that the buildup was necessary but it could've been a lot shorter and a lot more interesting. The twists were fun and I did like them quite a lot, they definitely kept me interested once they actually started to happen. The final twist was predictable though and I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. I don't mind when the book has an ambiguous ending but in this particular case it felt a bit lazy and like the author didn't know how to finish the story.

Overall, I'm glad I read this but it took me way too long to get through this book that it started to feel like a chore. It wasn't very creepy, aside from one very terrifying scene, and there isn't as much action as you'd expect but it does have a cute robot and a bitchy AI so at least there is that.
