Dark of the West by Joanna Hathaway
5.0
4/21/21 Re-read: Still absolutely love this series. These characters are everything. The final book is going to destroy me I just know it.
Also constantly impressed that I have read this book three times now and there are still things that surprise me.
---
2/22/20 Re-read: Honestly this was EVEN BETTER on a reread. I forgot just how much I loved these characters and since there is so much packed into this series there were so many reveals that I forgot about. This story gets quite complex and can be slightly intimidating the first time you read it because of all of the characters (with many different motivations), the expansive worldbuilding and layers upon layers of political intrigue so what made this reread fun was I could just let the story unfold since I was already familiar with the world and characters.
Also I took an absurd amount of notes while reading to keep track of various characters and the politics..the document on my computer is almost 5000 words...it's slightly ridiculous but I HAD FUN. Now I can't wait for Storm from the East to rip my heart out.
---
This was one of my most anticipated releases of the year and it exceeded every one of my expectations. A fantastic start to what is likely going to be an incredible series. (Longer review likely to come once I'm able to actually form more coherent thoughts aside from ASLKDJALSKDJASLD THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING I LOVE!!!!!!!!!!)
