I thought I was getting an amusing middle grade novel about the challenges of severe dental abnormalities. I was wrong. This was not really funny at all. It was actually really heartbreaking. The problems that this young girl contends with in her home life and at school are something a child should never have to go through. It was so infuriating watching family fail her in such a spectacular way. We all know that bullies exist in our schools. That's something that is old as time. But bullies should never exist in your family. I couldn't understand that desire to cause a loved one so much pain. It's unthinkable to me. The book was excellent. I would definitely recommend it but it was a hard read for me.
