- Loveable characters? It's complicated
- Diverse cast of characters? Yes
- Flaws of characters a main focus? No
Went in with high hopes for the premise, but unfortunately this book did not work for me.
I found the MC's characterization rather inconsistent and overly naive, and wanted to see more depth and development of the relationship between her, her brother and their families as they opened the business together. The writing was strangely choppy and repetitive, and I wondered while reading if it was originally written as a serialized story where the recapping would have been an asset rather than a detriment.
Overall I think this one just wasn't for me, but I'd say if you're a fan of cozy mysteries give it a try and see if the voice works for you.
