The Feeling of Life Itself: Why Consciousness Is Widespread But Can't Be Computed by Christof Koch

4.0

Very intriguing though not exactly what I’d hoped it would be. The book is too short to mount a thorough, rigorous defense of integrated information theory so it’s hard to know what I think of the central premise, and some of the technical stuff I found dense and hard to follow. But the second half exploring some of the implications of IIT was mostly fascinating, and I am quite curious to learn more. I also appreciate his coda on the ethical implications, specifically the support for veganism.
