The story has an interesting plot structure, with a central relationship/romance plot surrounded by a number of vignettes that weave in and out and are affected by the central story. Took a little time to get into but I ended up really liking it.

There is a scene involving a animal shelter where unwanted dogs are being euthanized. It's not a huge part of the story, but it's sad all the same.
