Storytelling was very good, and the major characters are well developed. Plot was good too. But the reason for the 3 stars - one thing I had a hard time getting over. I’m so tired of the perpetuation of the virgin myth, which is what I call it. We were all virgins once, but there seems to be a patriarchal myth that women need to be virgins to be virtuously strong and worthy of conquering by (in this case literally) an alpha male (which is another version of waiting for Prince Charming). It’s a subtle uplifting of the purity culture that pisses me off because it is only in service of the patriarchy that it has any value. Could Misery have been as dynamic a character if she had gotten some experience with the humans during her first Collateral? Of course!!!
