With single coloured (Navy) lovely illustrations that follows a summer spend in Awago Beach where Rose and her parents have spend summer’s since Rose was a little. The summer that the graphic novel covers is different from all the others Rose’s parents are fighting. Her summer friend Windy who visits each summer  too and Rose have beach days, rent horror movies and watch as the drama of the small town play out. ‘This One Summer’ is a coming of age story that gives a glimpse of girlhood. This graphic novel is a great introduction to books of this kind for younger readers, maybe 13 plus at the youngest due to the topics that is creatively tackled.  A true slice of life!
