Swanfolk by Kristín Ómarsdóttir

2.0

i was initially enthusiastic about this book, as the author is Icelandic and the concept of swan people sounds really interesting. unfortunately this book was very strange, but not in a good way.
it felt like a collage, there was no plot or clear direction, the stream-of-consciousness-like narration was often hard to follow.
it could be argued that the fragmented nature of "swanfolk" is supposed to mimic the main character's descent into madness, and i admire this as a creative choice, but overall i don't think it worked very well.
