Niccolaio Andretti by Parker S. Huntington

5.0

In book 2 of the Five Syndicates series we meet the volatile Minka Reynolds again, Lucy's nemesis, and the stoic and deadly Niccolaio Andretti, fixer for the Romano family.  Talk about high energy!  These two are fun to watch...and they think Lucy is crazy.

Minka will do anything for her 12-year-old sister who has spina bifida and is in a group home.  Even marry a man for money. After graduating college Minka  is homeless and her latest sugar daddy isn't working. It's the dangerous and hot next door neighbor who has caught her eye...well actually she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and almost got shot because of him. So why not hatch a plan for him to take care of her. After all, he put her in danger and lives in an expensive penthouse. Famous last words.

Niccolaio is bored. He has a bounty on his head ordered by his brother and has been hiding for years. He is a fixer for his family's number one enemy. It's the beautiful hot-headed woman that was screwing the douchebag old man next door that is in his head lately. It doesn't help she almost got killed by one of many hitman determined to get their $5 million reward for his demise. Now he feels obligated to protect her, but she's getting under his skin as they go from safe house to safe house and he can't afford to let his guard down...uh, too late.

I love Ms. Huntington's writing. This book has some tragic stuff, but then she throws in some LOL dark comedy that just blows me away. Minka's clean cursing and Niccolaio's quirky dark humor is fantastic! I can't help but love the unpredictable and steamy relationship between Minka and Niccolaio. The way their story unfolds is well done as they find common ground and work toward the slow build to the inevitable hot sexy moment. Sigh!

I have to agree with the author that one read [b:Asher Black|34705192|Asher Black (The Five Syndicates, #1)|Parker S. I recommend this enemies-to-lovers romance for those who love dark comedy, suspense, and sexy undercurrents of unrequited love. I can't wait to read book 3 about Niccolaio's brother Ranie.
