The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume One 1929–1964: The Greatest Science Fiction Stories of All Time Chosen by the Members of the Science Fiction by Robert Silverberg

dark mysterious reflective slow-paced

Like any anthology, a very mixed bag. Some stories are incredible, some don't deserve the hype. Quite  a few, as can be expected from the time of writing, racist, ableist or misogynistic.

The best ones I would absolutely recommend are Asimov's "Nightfall", Bradbury's "Mars is Heaven", Padgett's "Mimsy were the Borogroves", Clarke's "The Nine Billion Names of God", Bixby's "It's a Good Life", and Matheson's "Born of Man and Woman."
