This had been on my list for a while, and it seemed good for a short read to push me out of a reading slump. I found this super compelling and an important/timely read.
I really appreciated the way the Worldbuilding worked in this, with us only learning what Esther knew as it was necessary and learning new things along with her. I would have liked more of course but for a novella in this universe, it worked super well.
The romance was sweetly understated and had more to do with Esther's sense of self than as a romance which made it all the more important.
