I Am Not Myself These Days: A Memoir by Josh Kilmer-Purcell

dark emotional funny sad medium-paced

3.0

I finished this and felt nothing. It was like going through a complicated point in your life and moving on without having any emotional connection to the memory. I felt as empty as the narrator’s reaction to everything around them. I’m not sure if that’s the author’s intention or if it’s just bad writing. Maybe we as readers were meant to feel as disconnected as Aqua felt. Other than that the racial jokes were uncomfortable and unnecessary. I don’t know how to feel about this book, maybe I’ll re-read it in the future and come back with a new perspective.
