"I'm Thinking of Ending Things" by Iain Reid is a psychological thriller that delves into themes of identity, relationships, and existential dread. The story follows a young woman who joins her boyfriend on a road trip to visit his parents, all while contemplating the future of their relationship. As the journey unfolds, unsettling events and cryptic conversations blur the line between reality and perception, creating an atmosphere of mounting tension. The novel explores profound questions about selfhood and memory, culminating in a deeply unsettling and thought-provoking conclusion. It’s a story that leaves readers questioning what is real and what is imagined.

This book made me so incredibly uncomfortable, but in the best way possible. While I had previously seen the movie and thought I knew what to expect, the ending caught me off-guard. (That being said, the movie was still a great adaptation of the book.) I feel like I can't thoroughly review this book without spoiling everything, so I'll just leave you with this: whatever you think you know, you probably don't.
