What a Wallflower Wants by Maya Rodale

Content warnings should be noted before considering reading this book. Skip this book - no author should so cheaply use rape as a significant plot device and this was done especially poorly. I'm not someone triggered by books that have sexual assault and rape in them 95% of the time but this was uncomfortable. Not because there was a single scene but because this is a book focused on a young adult in full post trauma stress disorder experiencing and the level of detail was unnecessary. The love interest component of this story was alright, the female protagonist (Prudence) had some out of character moments that were meant to be pivotal to the story but didn't line up with the depiction of her prior to.

The epilogue rounds out the series and if you want to read about what happens over a decade later for the characters in the series, it offers a happily ever after.

🌶️ - There was a scene that was quite steamy.
A masturbation scene where Prudence was directed by John sitting in a chair elsewhere in the room and talking her through it. It ended as a mutual masturbation scene.

My takeaways: check content warnings before reading, and a reminder that I wanted to look into some self-defence/krav maga classes.
