The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
1.0
2022 update: when people ask me which book I read and disliked reading the most, I say it’s this one. The aftertaste is still so bad after so long. so yeah 1 star it is
Very Short review:
- I didn't like the first half of the book so much, that I considered putting it away.
- The first half was very slowly paced and packed with descriptions of killing, wounds, blood etc. Not my cup of tea.
- I didn't understand the POV system at first.
- I just don't like aliens unless they're in Doctor Who
BUT after page 200, I really got into the schwung and finished the rest in 2 days. The writing became quicker (at the end I felt like I was running a marathon) and things clicked together.
But why is that not worthy of 4 stars, you may ask? Because I just don't like reading about the theme of an alien invasion and the overall genre.
I'm curious about the movie now!
