The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath

Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
To be Frank,
In the same way I did not like Catcher in the Rye, or Go Ask Alice I did not like this book.
It is very difficult to write depression in a way that doesn’t make the character out to be the more irredeemable asshat you have ever had the opportunity to live inside of. Rare it is that I have read one that managed it. This one did not manage it. Besides the blatant and casually racist and nationalist statements dropped every other page.
Anyway didn’t feel like it was going anywhere, and the main character was incredibly irritatingly self involved and selfish.
Woe it is to be her and so intelligent and lucky. 🙄
