I liked this latest addition to the Ice Planet Barbarians series well enough. It’s not exactly my favourite but I thought that the author dealt with Tiffany’s healing from past sexual assault well. The premise is that Tiffany is one of two unmated human women left on Not-Hoth and she’s also the beauty of the group. This means she has a lot of suitors except she’s not interested because she’s dealing with the trauma of a brutal assault during her alien kidnapping. Enter in Salukh, her friend, who’s secretly in love with her but patient and caring enough to know that she’s nowhere near ready for him and willing to do whatever it takes to help her heal. I didn’t necessarily enjoy the games with the other suitors but I understood why Tiffany felt she couldn’t speak up.
Graphic: Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, and Death of parent
Moderate: Abandonment
