As the title suggests our main character becomes the assistant to the Villain. We follow Evie Sage who has a sick father and a younger sister to look after. She gets a job assisting the Villain with his day to day villain plans. This book is fun, it is obviously someones first book as there is things that can be improved. The characters are a bit 1 dimensional, flat and the writing reads a bit young. But I had a good time reading it, the plot is interesting we could have got more information/detail about certain events. I wish the author would show rather than tell but I liked the twists, I think there is plenty to work with and its a very unique POV to be following. I feel people have been way too hard on this book, its not amazing but it is cosy, fun and lighthearted. If you want something to read that is easy to pick up then this book does that. I really look forward to seeing this author improve their skill and get better which they will with practice. Word of warning though this is setting up a series of books so finishes on a cliffhanger.
