Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
3.0
I have to say, I am surprised this book was Barnes and Noble's book of the year for 2022. I have strong feelings towards whoever wrote the description that goes along with this book. I was told this book was going to be hilarious and about a feminist that has a cooking show... but that's not really what this book is about??? There are a lot of trigger warnings (SA, death, grief, suicide), so please be prepared or have someone tell you which pages to avoid.
This book is getting 3 stars from me because there were moments in this story that I liked, and it kept my attention most of the time, but I feel like I read a lot and also not a lot? The plot was "eh". Honestly, if I didn't have to finish this by last Friday because of my book club meeting, I probably would have shelved it and it would have taken me a lot longer to finish.
