I can appreciate when a book gets straight to the point, and in this case, the point is sex. I don’t really know if period piece, bodice-rippers like this one (and yes, there is a literal bodice ripped) are totally my cup of tea, but it was a quick read and I enjoyed it well enough for something outside my usual wheelhouse.
It’s the kind of book that you go into knowing what you’ll get, so if the synopsis doesn’t grab you, the story probably won’t either. I’ll probably give the next book a go as well because a scotch-swigging heroine is more my speed than the demure virginal student Helena turned out to be. All-in-all not a bad way to spend a few hours.
