Stunning debut from Nelle Nikole!
Throughout the book we mostly follow our main girl Amaia, but we do get a handful of pov's from her crew. Which I throughly enjoyed. I loved seeing the story from different perspectives, especially when the main pov might not always be providing the full truth to the reader.
This book has a lot of my favorite tropes, including some excellent slow burn and the wonderful crew being Amaia’s found family. Lots of tension, banter and humor! Which was always a nice break from the heavier moments.
I found the abilities and magic, along with the scientific tie in to be really fascinating, and hope it is explored more in the next book, because I have thoughts!!! But oh my gosh the twists! There were several times while reading where I was truly holding my breath from shock.
This book had me gagged by the end, truly. Overall action packed and a lot of heart, everything from beginning to end, was very well set up for a truly interesting story, and I’m excited to read more!
