77 Fragments of a Familiar Ruin by Thomas King

funny hopeful reflective fast-paced

3.0

Now, I liked Truth and Bright Water and I loved the Massey Lectures. Thomas King at his best inspires empathy and makes you shift your perspective and question your assumptions. There are flashes of brilliance here, but I found a lot of this poetry to be quite on-the-nose. A quote from one of the poems I liked that seemed at odds with much of the book:

Don't read between the lines,
she says,
as he reaches her side,
knowing all the while that this is where
the best stories hide.
