I enjoyed finishing this duet but didn't enjoy the story as much as the first book. The FMC was a bit repetitive about "how she's never gonna be the same after this situation" and it was annoying. I loved the relationship though between all the characters and the found family aspect! It was a bit confusing switching from past and present timelines when there was no indication, it just switched. Once I knew it was going to time jump like this, it was easier to follow but still confusing at times. I loved the FMC more when she started to embrace her family history instead of being mad or frustrated for not understanding things. The nightmare talk, I understood it was PTSD from what happened in the first book but it felt unnecessary and I feel like it didn't add to the story and it seemed to come out of nowhere, with no lead up or cause.
