The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher
4.0
Bits of this made for eerie reading after her death. See the quotes on the book page for some examples. This was both less and more than what I expected. Less dewy-eyed starlet, more already hyper self aware young woman in her diary entries. Plus a lot more retrospective reflection than I expected about her feelings about being Princess Leia, which was fun and interesting.
Got to say, Harrison Ford does not come off well, and I now feel like my impression of him when he was in the tabloids with Calista Flockhart is more accurate than I'd have liked to believe at the time. Though Carrie is careful to not blame him, he was still an older, more experienced man taking situational advantage of a much younger woman while keeping himself emotionally unavailable to her. That's some real Prince Charles-Lady Di level baloney.
I'm really sorry we won't hear more from Carrie and will miss her voice as well as her ability to be in Star Wars IX. Time to go back and read her novels.
