Consumed: The Need for Collective Change: Colonialism, Climate Change & Consumerism, by Aja Barber

Did not finish book. Stopped at 38%.
I read up until almost 40% of the way through, but I’m not really learning anything. So I started skimming and skipping through chapters until I figured that I didn’t need to keep going. The information is actually presented quite well. It’s very readable, and it feels like Aja is sitting across from you and chatting to you, albeit passionately. But it’s fairly rudimentary stuff. If you’ve watched a documentary about the fast fashion industry and have a good understanding of colonialism, racism, and how that impacts global trade, then this probably isn’t for you. But if you haven’t thought about those things and you want to learn about them with a focus on the fashion industry, then I can totally recommend this. I also think this would be a great book to give someone who wanted to know more about it, and you could have like a little book club and discuss the ideas with your own shopping habits.
