A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn

5.0

I tried to read this book 7 years ago and didn't make it far. Listening to it, I finished it in 2 days.

I loved listening to this book. It is amazing listening to testimonials from the civil rights movement. The tragedies, violence, police brutality, murders that happened against people of color sound like they could have happened yesterday. It reminds you how far we have yet to go to equality. It is amazing listening to all of the protests and demonstrations that have happened and the changes that they prompted considering all of the criticism Black Lives Matter is facing presently.

I particularly loved listening to the bits on the feminist and lgbtq movements, but really the entire book was amazing, eye-opening, infuriating, and relieving all at once. Everyone should read it.
