Viking Wolf: a steamy alpha warrior romance by Emmanuelle de Maupassant

5.0

Emmanuelle de Maupassant has a talent for weaving relatable tales that transport the reader into the characters' times. I related to Elswyth's character as she struggled to find her place in Svolvaen. The sexual tension is palpable and realistic. Maupassant develops her characters while leaving an air of mystery in the narrative which kept me turning the pages. I appreciated the foreshadowing and symbolism. Although I know very little about Viking history and language, Maupassant provides succinct explanations and a glossary which makes the story seem authentic. There is a love triangle, adventure, suspense, complexity, moral conflict and many steamy encounters. I enjoy this writer's somewhat noir approach to historical romance.
