Revved to the Maxx by Melanie Moreland

5.0

As seen on my blog (Jessie's Reading Corner):
Revved to the Maxx by Melanie Moreland is a cute, funny and steamy story. It was my first Melanie Moreland book and it won’t be my last.

Charlynn and Maxx’s meet cute is a classic case of mistaken identity. After a night of passion that rocks both their worlds, they’re intent on moving on from that one night stand until they realize they will be working with each other for the foreseeable future. Things start off rough between the two, due to Maxx’s trust issues, but the sparring only fuels the tension until it reaches a boiling point.

Charlynn (aka Charly or Red) is a badass with a penchant for spouting off unique expressions, particularly whenever she and Maxx are sparring. She reminded me somewhat of Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy with all her mannerisms and phrases. I loved how she would purposely egg Maxx on with all her outfit choices, which usually led to them both being naked and sweaty.

Maxx is a lovable grump who’s ex did a number on him. When he officially meets Charlynn, he’s upset that she “lied to him” about who she was. He’s intent on treating her like the boy that he thought he hired. After spending time with her and seeing how hard-working she is, he comes to respect and trust her.

I really enjoyed the side characters in this story, especially Brett, Stefano and Mary. I am excited that Brett and Stefano are getting their own stories and intrigued on learning more about their backstory and the ladies that win their hearts. I do wonder if Melanie has any plans for a story on Chase. We didn’t see much of him but I loved that he apologized and owned up to his brother’s actions.
