Dark Lover by J.R. Ward

3.0

So I finally succumbed, this has been on my amazon recommended list for forever and then when I joined Goodreads popped up in nearly every genre 'to read'. So I read it and it was OK. I don't mind books in this genre and quiet enjoy Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter.
I felt though that this series was a little short on the happier things in life. Everybodies life is pretty depressing, hell the leading lady even nearly gets raped in the first few pages! And I also felt the Males in this need to lay off the steroids a little bit! I don't really like to picture Arnie as my love interest in books those kinda men just don't do it for me, but hey each to their own.
And what I have to say I love in especially Cole's books is the sense of humor and the bits of wit and sarcasm which are really lacking in this book.
The love scenes were OK but there was absolutely no build up to it so I didn't really care if the two ended up together or not. And in my opinion great sex does not equal great love (it helps) I don't think the two every really had a serious conversation except about what happened with his parents.
So will I read the next one...yes if it's in my library the next time I visit and there isn't much else to choose from but I won't be buying it or putting them on my 'to keep' shelf.
