Unfortunately, I didn't love this book. Chris wrote an insider's view of Selena's life as her popularity grew, but, ultimately, this book read like part of the behind-the-scenes bonus material from a DVD. It's evident that Chris had a hand in writing the screenplay for the movie, as the book and film had identical scenes.
I admire the fact that Chris wrote the book himself, but it read as if a love-struck teenager wrote a long essay about his first love. I read the book in a few hours...and wanted to do some major editing.
The book was sweet and clearly written with love.
