This short story is fantastic. It’s a hard read, generally melancholy, and it’s taken me some time to compose my thoughts. I think the format was fantastic, and a good choice for the narrative. The repetition and cadence serve to hit you again and again, becoming more raw as the story continues, and the depiction of historical narratives alongside dystopian future possibilities works really well.

The story also prompted a lot of personal reflection on my own life, the women in it, and the privileges I’ve lived with and sometimes take for granted.
