This book had a very strong plot. I think important ideas were being passed along with this book.
However, I won’t lie, it was sort of hard to read. Just because of the content. This book can be traumatic and has a number of assault themes. However, I think a key theme in this book was that sometimes, it’s really not easy to leave abusive relationships.
But within all of that, the love story August and Iris had was just so…chemistry-filled and I’m glad it worked out. I don’t know how realistic it was with how magnetic all their encounters were with all the odds stacked up against them but I guess that’s how life can be sometimes and who really reads these romance books for how realistic they are.
SpoilerI wish more had been done to that wicked man Caleb!! Because it was so scary how the red flags started to appear. The bodyguard, him injuring August. The gun. The cutting her off when she tried to run away. Damn, in this life, ladies have something for yourself without settling for good for nothing men who have too much self-importance
Spoiler
Overall, a solid book. But very traumatic.
