Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes

3.0

3/5

“A gown does not make a bride, just as a few empty threats do not make a rebel.”

This was pretty much my only focus in this book. Finally, the pace picked up considerably, and I enjoyed reading. The rebels were on the move, and magic became a priority. Other than Magnus, I still could not connect with any of the characters, but by the end of the book I adored Cleo. She had a lot of growing up to do, and all so sudden, when both her kingdom and her life was at risk.

There was no hope in death, only an end.

This is what Cleo learned, and this was what she fought against.

My only concern with this book (and also in the first book that I ignored) was instalove. It felt forced, and I think it was only there for the sake of romance, when the focus was on anything but romance. It wasn't necessary, and it was too quick, mildly annoying.
