Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan

3.0

I liked so much about this book--the setting, historical period, mood, and plot were all compelling--but the characters all had the same voice, and it worked better for some than others. The main character also felt a little glitchy--I didn't always believe that Anna would do the things she did or think the way she did, and the same applied to her father and most of the characters actually. But I will probably read another book by Egan--and I can understand why so many people loved this one.
