The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

5.0

Set in France during WW2, this historical fiction tells the story of the war from the women’s perspective. As it is stated in the book, it is the men who usually get the credit for fighting wars. However, the women are left behind and must fight their own wars at home. Vianne and Isabelle are sisters who, although very different, each contribute to the war resistance in her own way. The bravery and pain that each of them endured during the horrific evil that occurred during the Nazi’s occupation of France is heartbreaking.

This was my first Kristin Hannah book, and it will certainly not be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style, and this story kept my eyes glued to the pages from start to finish.
