I think this book might have moved to my favorite of Perry's books. This is some of her best writing, yet!
I am one of those people who like when fiction closely mirrors reality. I have a big imagination, however it's nice to see reality with a dose of happily ever after sometimes. This book is just that. Real, raw, life. And then smiles by the end. I couldn't have asked for more from this book.
I met these characters in The Birthday List. When I saw that they were getting their own book, I was intrigued. I knew I would end up reading it at some point. I am glad I didn't put it off. This book had me turning the pages from the very beginning.
This book is a roller coaster of emotions. I was so invested in these characters and their happy ending, I had tunnel vision. The only thing I was concerned with while reading this book was this book. Nothing else really mattered. I wanted nothing more than to see these characters heal together.
The idea of the letters in this book is pretty ingenious. They made the book. At the same time, they were the only fall back for me. While they set the tone for many parts of the book. They weren't as emotional for me as they were for the characters. I get it though. They lived through those letters, however, I wanted to feel what they were feeling in that moment. And I just didn't. I felt some, but nothing overwhelming, which I think should have been overwhelming.
Overall, this book is a definite must read. You can read this one on its own if you haven't read The Birthday List. Although, you might want to read TBL because of the timeline. Either way, the book is definitely more than worth a read.
