ALL SPOILERS:

  • This started well with the vow renewal, even though I wish that were implemented in the novel. It felt like that was a vital plot piece.
  • This novella makes it Julianna's 4th near-death experience, 5th if you want to count Killian taking a bullet for her. I'm not too fond of that. It's a trope in the genre already, but for it to happen 5 times feels like a crutch.
  • You mean 4 big-ass bodyguards couldn't protect Julianna and guide her from a press mob??????
  • The amount of typos in this novella is insane. I caught a handful in the novel as well, but nothing that would've ruined the experience. The editor phoned it in or something.
  • The ending felt so abrupt. And the random Elias and Arabella reincarnation reunion taking up the entire epilogue??? Nobody was asking for that.
  • I did appreciate the display of realistic marital strife after everything by showing that Julianna still struggled with withholding key information from her husband and therefore interfering with his 'right' to choose again and their little argument in the barn after Gabriel felt like an actual situation that would happen and the dialogue felt authentic.
