Kate Beaton’s comics are iconic now thanks to several memes made from her panels. I’ve read a few of hers before, so I was excited to pick up this book.
Overall, each strip is very humorous and fun while also being *mostly* historically accurate. There were quite a few about Canadian history which were generally lost on me, but there was still good humor nonetheless. Since this book first came out in 2011, a few of the references are outdated. Regardless, I enjoyed reading this as a nice palate cleanser between dense books.
I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast read. As it is mainly dialogue and art, it is easy to keep up.

Minor: Body horror, Bullying, Child death, Cursing, Misogyny, Violence, Colonisation, and Classism
Very, very minor mentions of the former trigger warnings. As it is humor it is usually very tongue in cheek.
