I think I might have enjoyed a better resolution to the relationship between Amina and her husband, but since this isn't the only book for this series, I'm going to withhold judgement for now. But I would like to see a redemption arc there, especially since I think Marjana deserves to know the whole of her heritage.
That said, I enjoyed this book and I think it especially lends itself to an audiobook format, in the style of the sagas of old passed through various storytellers around a campfire under the darkened sky. The pacing was alright, the characters full of life and with very distinct histories and objectives. All in all, very lovable.
