All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders
3.0
Well, I really liked the birds.
And most of the moody, atmospheric bits with Patricia.
And Peregrine.
Laurence... was kind of unbearable though.
Aggrandizement was very Pratchettesque, which is not a bad thing;.
And while I can appreciate the syncopated pacing as an idea, it didn't work for me. I guess I would have liked there to be more transitions, more traditional storytelling to the parts of the story that were put together.
(So far, my least favourite of Nebula/Hugo 2016/17 bunch.)
