I never thought I would be THIS excited to read a book set in Finland and in Lappland. A place I've always wanted to visit. But this book is not only giving me gorgeous Lapland it's giving mythology. Finnish mythology, that I've never heard of. It was so interesting and I will be looking into it. This story reminds me of Hades & Persephone and Beauty & the beast, maybe that's why I was so into it because I love those stories.
This book follows Hanna who travels to Finland for her fathers funeral. She's crushed and grieving, but when she find her fathers body missing, Sh*t goes down and we are thrown into a world of magic, gods and death. Hannah is willing to do anything to find and save her father even let Death himself capture her to be held prisoner. A very very charming Death, if I say so myself. Be ready to love the dirty talking Death and be ready to welcome him to your book-boyfriend list
The world-building in this book was very well written and so magical. I listened to this book and found myself so into the plot that I couldn't multitask at home. Everything between Hanna and Death was just... OMG. The tension between them, the spice. Don't let me get started on the spice and his curse and his words. I need to get to the second book asap after that ending.
