Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron
emotional
funny
hopeful
sad
I don’t remember much about this book, except that I read it randomly in elementary school—I don’t even remember how I found it—and absolutely loved it. Young Liv loved Dewey so much, and was delighted to learn that the library he lived in was in a state fairly close to mine. I begged my mom to take me, and then was devastated when I reached the end of the book and found out he had died. This is one of only two nonfiction books I own, and part of a small collection that I’ve kept with me for over ten years, through various moves. It’s easily been ten years or maybe more since I’ve read it, but at this point, it’s a sentimental thing. ❤️
Graphic: Animal death
I could be misremembering details, but if I’m right, Dewey got really sick and eventually was put to sleep. I don’t remember how detailed the book gets, but definitely be careful if animal sickness/death are triggering to you.
