This was a really fucken cute book. I loved it.
Lenora and Edward are super perfect for each other. Made for each other. Built to be together. And it was so goddam nice that he wasn’t an ass because he held the position of Queen and he is a prince. I also really loved that ‘Lenny’ got a guy like that and didn’t have to settle for a greedy douche.
The first third of the book is just about Lenora’s life as someone who would be a Queen. It starts when she’s a child. Then jumps to her 16th, where she meets Thomas, her best friend. Then a little later when she becomes Queen. Edward is Thomas’s brother - who has spent his life travelling, and leaving his brother letters about his time abroad.
I really liked that the book started this way. And it’s only at the about half way point that we even meet Edward. It give us ample time to get to know Lenora and what is expected of her. It also makes me better appreciate what Edward does for her and how opening her up a little and making her stronger is so important. And he never tears her down which is a bonus since most book have those cliche breakups scenes.
Overall this was an amazing book. I think I still love the second in the series the best. But this is a close second.
