Awake At Dawn by Amelie Rhys

3.0

Awake at Dawn was a cute brother’s best friend story. I really liked the spin on the accidental pregnancy trope (the mmc is not the father and no that’s not a big spoiler) but I especially liked reading about Noah being so overprotective of Gemma about basically everything. They were very cute; the banter was great, the connection was amazing and their chemistry even better.

I just never made a connection with them. They felt a bit too much like words on paper to me (or on my screen because I have the ebook). And the back and forth was great at first but grew boring after a while.

And this whole thing about telling Julian or not was just looming over their heads for no reason. I mean it was very anti-climatic when he found out. With the way they were making a big deal out of it, I expected more from that plot. Also, Gemma being hurt whenever Noah said that it was ‘just sex’ when she basically put those words in his mouth every single time was very annoying.

Overall, it was an okay book; there were a lot of scenes that I liked from the doctor’s appointments to Noah’s games and his family teasing them. But I feel like the bad outweighs the good for me on this one.
