The Words by Ashley Jade

3.0

So I absolutely adore Jade’s RHA books, they’re excellent, but I have not really been able to connect to any of her other work. It’s all been more miss than anything. This one certainly started with more bang and then kinda fizzled out. I think the biggest issue is this book is insanely long. Like over 700 pages long.

I also didn’t love all the side characters. Some I did, some I didn’t, but whatever. I liked Phoenix a whole lot, because I love a jackass. It went back and forth with him, and Lennon… torn because she had moments of spunk, and other times her indecision drove me insane. Like. I don’t know.

Anyway. I think this book could have potentially been better if it were shorter, it would have been a tighter, more nuanced read. I liked some of the issues that Jade tackled here, but also felt some she dropped off to the side and didn’t look at enough. I also preferred the first bit of the book. Anyway.
