Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life by Bryan Lee O'Malley

4.0

Summary:

Scott Pilgrim does a pretty good job of making his life perfect. He's in a band, lives with a friend, and even has a high school girlfriend. But as we all know, things aren't always as they appear. Scott is still reeling from a big breakup and hasn't had a serious relationship since then.

But when he crosses paths with a girl named Ramona Flowers, he suddenly wants more. He wants her in his life, even if that means battling her seven evil ex-boyfriends. That's not too unusual, right?

Review:

Okay, so I'm WAY behind on the times here. I loved Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World (the movie) when it came out. But somehow, I never actually got around to reading the manga it was based on? I don't know how that happened. Oh well.

After reading Scott Pilgrim Vol. 1, I can see how good the movie was about following the comics. I mean, wow! Why can't more adaptations be this faithful? The world would be a better place, or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

Scott Pilgrim Vol. 1 is quirky and funny in the best ways possible. It introduces us to our leading man (Scott), his friends, his girlfriend, and his current love interest. You can tell right away that things will get chaotic, and that's before introducing the evil-ex battles into the mix.

Highlights:
Humor
Romantic Plot (And Evil Exes)
Musical Battles and More
