Red Rising by Pierce Brown
Did not finish book.
Did not finish book. Stopped at 42%.
1) This book has a lot of potential. The metaphors and descriptions are beautiful, but the paragraph structure is poor. There might be 5-6 sentences in a paragraph and they’re all the same length/style. It creates a monotone in the narrator, making it hard to stay focus/engaged
2) The characters are very 2D to me. The main character especially is a male “Mary sue” and has no real personality beyond being the best and most special person. Even his love for his wife is only used to gain sympathy and show a motivation for him.
3) I am so bored. I wanted to love it. I wanted to finish. But I am so BORED.
