This book was really cute. A unique spin on a childhood favorite. The passing was really consistent through the whole book, which was nice. Ultimately, it's a nice, cozy weekend book. While I personally enjoyed the plot, there were a few things that left me peeved. The FMC, Gabrielle, was supposed to be in her 30's, however I feel like she and her friends act rather immaturely. This behavior made me scratch my head as I would expect this out of a teenager and would best be suited for a coming of age story, which in a lot of ways this plot was.
 **spoilers**

Gabrielle left on her adventure without telling anyone, being the only heir to the throne left for this court. That is the defiant act of a moody teenager who doesn't want to accept her fate. Not a 30 year old princess. Also, if she is 30 already, why hasn't she yet married or taken the throne? The adventure was fun. But some of the banter between side characters seemed juvenile.

Despite my knit picking, I really enjoyed this story. There were twists that I didn't see coming and some I did, although that didn't take away from the enjoyment.
If you like Disney movies, you will enjoy this adult take on a classic. 😉
